That means you need to stop thinking of your LinkedIn profile headline as a job description. Start thinking of your LinkedIn headline as a value statement.

Think of the core words that describe you and what you can offer to a prospective client or customer. Think of the problems that you solve. Think of the solutions that you offer. These are key words that make sense for your prospect.

Try to think of words that a prospect would use when doing keyword searches, or that they would notice when you’ve reviewed their LinkedIn profile, words that will resonate with them.

Remember, since you’ve claimed a custom URL on Linkedin optimizing your headline here has the added benefit of being indexed by the search engines as well. It acts as the title of your branded web site. Your headline is not only optimized for Linkedin, it also becomes a lead source and a lead generator for you. The core words that you use within your headline will help you bubble to the top of LinkedIn searches, but more importantly, it will help you rank better in organic Google searches.
